About BINGS
The Brunel Interdisciplinary Network for Gender
and Sexuality (BINGS) was co-founded by Jessica
Cox and Wendy Knepper in 2011.
Aims
BINGS aims to encourage dialogue, exchange, and
innovative research in the area of gender and
sexuality, both within existing areas of study
as well as across disciplines. The network is
open to scholars and students as we aim to encourage
research and the exchange of ideas at all academic
levels.
Research and Events
Through regular seminars and workgroups, conference
events, research publications, and other knowledge
transfer initiatives, we foster cutting-edge interdisciplinary
research in gender and sexuality.
Student Network
A student committee will be formed to lead events
for post-graduate and graduate students.
Future Directions
In the longer term, we anticipate that this network
will lead to new avenues for research and funding
as well as exchange beyond Brunel University.
We intend to establish a centre for studies and
foster alliances with universities in Europe and
beyond.
Working Groups
Working groups enable groups of scholars with
shared interests to come together to address specific
research concerns. At present, we have not yet
established these groups, but we expect to announce
the groups later in 2011.
